Electricity Supply to Malawi
A World Bank Mission is expected next month to be in Mozambique in order to discuss the project implementation phases and the supply of electric power to Malawi from Matambo central substation in Tete province.
BM inaugurates Tete agency
Ernesto Gouveia Gove, Governor of the Central Bank of Mozambique is in Tete province in order to carry out the inauguration of the Tete branch.
The Press Release says that the opening of the branch is under the Central Bank Strategic Plan aiming at expanding financial services and major banking system of the national economy.

Community Projects receive Japanese support
Three community projects in the area of Education, Water and Sanitation in Maputo and Zambézia provinces will benefit from an increase of Japanese financial assistance recently approved by the Japanese Government amounting 208.497 American Dollars.

Trade Technician meeting at CEB
About 150 experts of technical operation area from International Trade meet today at Centro de Estudos Brasileiros (CEB) in Maputo. The purpose of the meeting is to support developing countries in the training, preparation and constitution of managers and technicians in management of imports and exports of the public and private sectors.
Norway continues to finance Mozambique’s energy sector
Mozambique will receive about 30 million US dollars from Norway for electrification projects in the northern province of Cabo Delgado to be implemented during the next three years. An agreement formalizing the grant was signed yesterday on the first day of President Armando Guebuza visit to the Scandinavian kingdom. Guebuza is in Norway for a three-day working visit.
Norway ’s annual financial assistance to Mozambique has totalled some 65 million US dollars. Following talks between Guebuza and the Norwegian Prime Minister, Jens Stoltenberg, Norway announced that the current level of assistance to Mozambique could be increased as from next year.

Guebuza visits Norway and France
Mozambican President Armando Guebuza today begins a three-day official visit to Norway to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
MOZAL & HCB supports victims of floods
Mozal Aluminium Smelter Company hands today at its head office in Maputo a cheque of USD 100 thousand American Dollars to Mozambique Red Cross in order to support the victims of floods in the central part of the country.
This act aims to encourage other entities in the country to give a hand to people suffering from the social calamities.On the other hand Cahora Bassa Dam – hydroelectric company contributed with 3.900.000 Meticais (local currency) to support victims of floods in Tete, Zambezia, Nampula and Sofala provinces, respectively.

Maputo hosts CPLP/China business conference
Mozambique’s capital Maputo will next April host a conference between businessmen from the Peoples Republic of China and the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).
CPLP members include Angola , Brazil, Cape Verde , Sao Tome and Principe, Guinea Bissau, East Timor, Mozambique, and Portugal.
Over 450 companies from a wide range of sectors including textile, wood, construction, banking, insurance, hotels and tourism, industrial equipment, health, biotechnology, among others, are expected to take part in the event being organized the Mozambican government, the Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA) and the Export Promotion Institute (IPEX).

The re-start works of Zambeze bridge construction
The companies Mota-Engil and Soares da Costa will restart with the Zambeze River bridge recosnutrution works this week. The work was interrupted at the beginning of the current month due to the rainfall.
The works have been interrupted at the beginning of this month due to the waterfall increase causing the saturation of the soils and the suspension of the construction foundations. It is expected that the works will be concluded in March 2009 even with the rainfall.
