Guebuza visits Japan

The Mozambican President, Armando Guebuza, will officially visit Japan next January 2007. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen friendship and cooperation relationship between the two countries.

mCel expands roaming services

The Mozambique Cellular (mCel) has just established an agreement on roaming data with three important operators, namely: The Optimus - in Portugal, The Tim – in Brazil and CSL – in Hong Kong in an operation, that according to National Company has been considered to be an expansion to mobile internet access to its clients starting covering more countries in Europe, South America and Asia.

MIC & MDN agree on "Made in Mozambique"

An agreement for the consumption of national products by the Ministries of Home Affairs and Ministry of Industry & Trade will be signed today in Maputo by the respective Ministers.

The Ministers José Pacheco and Tobias Dai committed themselves to support the initiative "Made in Mozambique", launche by the Ministry of Industry & Trade.

Moma Heavy Sands Start-up next year

The Moma Heavy exploration project, in Nampula province starts-up in 2007, assured last Monday in Maputo, Wayne Knott – General Director of Kenmare Moma Mine, soon after his appointment with the Minister of Labour, Helena Taipo.

According to Wayne Knott, of Australian Nationality, the start-up of works will be in two phases being the first (concentration) in January and the second (processing) in February counting with 450 – 500 workers of which 60 are foreigners. Wayne Knott assured equally that the company will pay all the extra works to the employees who will work in shift basis.

The Minister of Labour praised the effort of the company in the provision of better conditions to the employees.

MEC and MIC agree on the promotion of the national goods

The Ministries of Education and Culture and Industry and Trade sign today in Maputo, an agreement of which is the first institution committing to acquire national products.

This agreement to be signed by the respective Ministers, Aires Ali and António Fernando, respectively, is under the campaign "Mozambican produce, export and consume" led by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Report on the existence of land mines

A People´s Norwegian Aid (APN), an international NGO working in de-mining projects in Mozambique has submitted a Report on the situation of land mines in the southern area of Mozambique.

The document shows the existence of explosive devices spread all over the national territory. The submission of this instrument marks the closure of the program of anti-personal land mines installed during the National Freedom Struggle and War during 16 years of armed conflict.

EDM in mini-conference

The Mozambican Electricity Company – EDM promotes the second mini-conference today in Maputo involving municipality’s managers from Maputo e Matola cities villages.

The meeting aims at consolidation of good relations establishment, communication and partnerships with the clients. Also the meeting will allow exchange experience on the aspects related to services, maintenance of infra-structures as well as fight against the smuggling of electricity and electric materials.

Taking into account the importance that electricity is a public necessity; the EDM has been moving actions since 2001 at local entities and beneficiaries of electricity in general.

A course on Scientific Investigation Methodology takes place in Xai-Xai today. It is an initiative aiming at building capacity to the participants in scientific investigation, elaboration, financing, management and projects evaluation issues in the area of science and technology.

A Public International Tender for Nacala Habour Cargo Terminal which was affected by “Delfina Cyclone”may be launched soon. Being a massive engineering work, the launch of the tender must be anteceded by a project and a consultant with a wide range of experience in the area has already been contracted.
